My studio residency is in DUMBO, overlooking the waters, close enough to be underneath the Manhattan Bridge. The art dwellers here are involving within their work and the atmosphere is just charging. The view is very technological sublime.

I find that rooftops are essential to experience the surface of New York City. While in it, I see many unfamiliar-familiar faces, reminding me much of Memphis. I'm alien here; trying to fit in within the mysticism of New York. I'm sure I feel the same way Western Europeans photographers first came to China.
 I got a call from Valerie June to come up to her gig at the Mercury Lounge.

It is definitely nice to see people I know in New York. Though, I'm still good at meeting new people.

 Another night at the People's Improv Theatre. I think she was taking him hostage. After going to see improv shows here, I realized I have been watching Kristen Schaal ("Mel" from Flight of the Concords) and bumping into some incredible creative people here in New York.
Carmen, Lucy and Rachel snagged an amazing artist apartment in Bushwick, complete with screening facilities, pool tables, an amazing rooftop view and matching slippers.

And so, we are the chosen ones. Still, New York holds its mysticism for me.
I went into shop that had taxidermied-animals and remains. The mysticism of New York has caught me within this kind of visuals.
